Amazing Love.
What kind of love is this, that God demonstrated by sending Jesus on that first Christmas? I remember well, it was this amazing love that once and for all changed my life. How? One of the critical factors involved the realization that I was a sinner desperately in need of a Savior. I could hardly believe that He could love someone like me and others, considering how we are such a mess. Yes, it was this discovery of grace that changed everything. “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8.
I just want to dwell in this love as Christmas approaches. We move away from the true meaning of Christmas as we succumb to pressure of buying gifts and fulfilling obligatory traditions. In fact, I sense this same “drift” occurring in my own life, during other times of the year. Somehow, I can lose sight of His great love and slowly drift away, as if it’s not enough to satisfy.
I pray we return to this great love and rest in it this Christmas. Let it be that lighthouse of reference and refuge, as well as a source of inspiration and hope during this very special season. Merry Christmas everyone!
