Who's Yer Daddy?
Listening and hearing are important components to being conformed into the image of Christ. Jesus is our best example. He listened to His Father. He did what He said. He heard the Words of God and acted on them. First, and foremost, He had to know who He belonged to. He was God's Son. "Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God." John 8:47.
What do you believe? Who do you belong to? What voice are you listening to? What do you allow into your mind? Are you interested in listening to the Voice of Truth?
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears thee words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." Matt. 7:24-27.
So, it appears the storms are coming, no matter what you do. You can choose to either put His Word into practice or not, but the storms will indeed come. You will be tested. Your faith will be tried. James commanded that we not be merely hearers of the Word only, but actually do what it says. We are called to put our faith into action. We are told to prove our belief by our actions. Nike says, "Just do it". Let's go people! Fan into flame the gift of God, once again, believing! Hear the voice of your Savior and respond with action. You belong to Christ. He owns you. You are no longer your own. You are His child. You listen to Him. He is your Daddy.
