Phillipians is like eating a giant steak dinner. It is full of good morsels to chew on. Don't try to digest it too quickly, but enjoy each tidbit, and let it sink in. Paul had amazing experiences on his journey. He knew firsthand the benefit of knowing Christ and was not ashamed to live it out. Sometimes I think we are living in a time where the name of Christ is slowly diminishing in power. Maybe it's outdated? Maybe it has tags of negativity and judgment? Maybe it's too exclusive to fit in our new world of acceptance.
So this Jesus, the real Jesus, was an actual factual living human being that walked the face of the earth. It is as real as if it were just occuring yesterday. Accept it. Believe it. It happened. He was who He said He was. There can be only one authority, and He is it. Ah, remember the pictures of Him in glory? Blazing fire, brilliant light, amazing beauty. That's who's hearing our prayers. That's who's pulling for us. That's who loves us. That's the King! That's the most powerful force in the universe. The buck stops there.
Have we given up on God to come through for us on some things? Are there some things we need to surrender to His throne to do the impossible? The Old Testament is full of stories where God did the impossible for the first time. He is the Creator after all. All elements and structures are subject to His sovereignty. May we help each other hang on and keep believing that God will come through for us in His time, in His perfect way. May we invite Him to do the impossible in our lives. Only He can affect change in human hearts and governments alike. May we trust Him through every step.
