Meeting 7/20/19
Faith: The Other “F” Word, Part II.
“For the creation was subjected to frustration,… in hope that the creation itself will be liberated…” Rom. 8:20.
We all are subjected to frustration. We all have a choice in how we respond. We all have grace available when we fail to respond as we and He is praying! Thank God!
Our response does matter. People are watching. People are learning from our example. Even when we fail, others can learn valuable lessons from how we handle even that failure.
A week previously, I failed miserably. Frustration overwhelmed my peace. I lashed out. Hearts were injured erroneously. I had the privilege of repenting and receiving forgiveness. It was a humbling lesson to learn, especially after teaching on this topic recently! But it was special in the sense that my children got to witness me being real and admitting my humanity. They got to see me humbled and participating in restorative forgiveness. They also got to observe me make the positive change and come around to faith that very same day. It was one of those special teaching moments for everyone involved. I believe it let my kids know we are all in this together, fighting the good fight of faith, and struggling with our own human tendencies.
This week was a bit different. As usual, an opportunity presented itself to frustrate the dickens out of all of us. This time, the Shrubs got to observe me staying calm and work through a difficult situation. Along the way, they witnessed my speaking to strangers about the Lord and faith. We also got to be on the receiving end of mercy and ministry, so that in itself was truly humbling as well! I pray those Good Samaritans were impacted by the Lord’s Spirit and our faith during a tough time. I hope the Lord was pleased with His kids.
Be encouraged, friends. Our response to frustrations does indeed matter. Even our responses when we fail to respond in faith matters. Being real and honest about our shortcomings is just as valuable. And yes, we will get ample opportunities. Be reminded, it is God that subjects His creation to frustration, so that we might be liberated from the bondage of our own humanity and bring Him glory. Let’s do it.
