Isaiah 51-55.
Ch. 51.
*v1. "Look to the rock from which you were cut and the quarry from which you were hewn."
*v4. The law will go out from me- He is the source of morals, values, etc.
*v7. "Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults"- what would life be like without fear? How would that influence our decisions? Faith, not fear.
*v16. "I have put my words in you mouth and covered you w/ the shadow of my hand."
Ch. 52.
*v7. "How beautiful on the mountains..."- I want to be that kind of man that brings good news, peace, salvation, joy.
*v12. "The Lord will go before you and be your rear guard."
*v14. Disfigured, marred beyond human likeness.
Ch. 53.
*Jesus-humble, ironic, unimpressive looking.
*v5. "Pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him and by His wounds we are healed."
*v6. "We are like sheep gone astray."
*v7. He did not open His mouth; no deceit in His mouth.- my example is He.
*v10. The Lord's will to crush Him. -the satisfying sacrifice to once and for all deal with the power of sin.
Ch. 54.
*Israel is coming back together. Years of God's wrath and anger are coming to an end. He is redeeming her.
*v9. The promise: no more anger or rebuke.
*v10. The ultimate love song and wedding vows.
*v15. "If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you." Wow. That's really true!
Ch. 55.
*Come to me; Listen to me; Be nourished; Be satisfied; Rest and live; Have your being and existence in Me.
*v6. "Seek the Lord while He may be found..." So there is a need for urgency as if there's limited time? Yes.
*v8. "My thoughts, my ways..." - realizing His character leading to worship leading to trust.
*v11. "My word that goes from my mouth will not return empty, but will achieve its purpose."
*Joy and Peace-two fruits of the Spirit that we cannot have if we live in fear.
