Jesus Calling...
"Your citizenship is in heaven." We are such products of our worldly environment. Between that and our human nature, we become quite spoiled. We have it pretty good here, you know? We pretty well plan and execute whatever we feel we can accomplish. We are quite rich in loading our lives with pleasures and entertainment. We are slaves to our senses.
Thank God this isn't my glorified body. This thing is falling apart more and more every year. It's been difficult to accept physical changes and limitations. I've been spoiled with youthful strength and vigor, able to do whatever I set my mind to do. The Lord has a gentle, subtle way to humble us to help aid our perspective of what is truly important in life. I doubt there are any mirrors in heaven. What do you think? Honestly, it's pretty funny in the gym, what we do.
We were born for heaven. This is but our temporary home. We would be wise to live out our days as pilgrims, passing through. We need to set our minds on things above and not be so concerned with things of this world. We are getting so wrapped up and disturbed about this life, it's distracting from our focus on heavenly things. "The only thing that matters is faith expressing itself through love." (Gal. 5:6) We need to be "loving" our way through this life. That means allowing our God to be right in the center of everything we do. That means we commit all to Him, as if doing it for Him. If there's something you do, do it in love. Maybe consider it an act of worship for your King. Other people should be able to notice God in our engagements and involvements. He should be right, smack-dab in the middle of everything we do. He is wanting us to prove what we believe by our actions. Our faith should be active. We should allow our faith to be expressed through our love for the things He's given us to be stewards of here: marriages, children, jobs, hobbies, talents, relationships, finances, values, morals, ethics, integrity, etc. "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." (Col. 3:17)
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters" (Col. 3:23)
We need to take care of our bodies, true. But we need to realize our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We need to walk, knowing He is with us. Think about His presence and what that means for you. Thank You, Lord.
