Meeting 3/08/14
Life.
Continuing in our study of Life, we recognize a pattern of growth in the design.  It's a 'Boys to Men' theme.  In 1John 3:1, we read that we are called children of God. It's an amazing love that is lavished upon us by the Father Himself.  We are invited into an incredible adventure of family and relationship.  Oh, and this 'love', is the most powerful force in the universe at work today.

Now, we still have a choice in this.  We can choose to go another path: one that is about our 'selves' and not one that follows God as a disciple.  In 2Tim. 3:1-9, we see traits of people that have decided to live out their own lives, away from a relationship with God.  "lovers of themselves, money, boastful, proud, abusive, without love, unforgiving, having a form of godliness but denying its power".  Not good.  But in 1Tim. 6:11-12, we see the transition of a boy to a man of God.  It is a supernatural path of Godly training over time.  The Father knows how to make disciples of men.  We are to 'flee' from those bad, selfish paths, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.  Endurance?  Hmmm...Must mean this will be difficult.  Must mean we need to depend on God's strength and provision.  Must mean there is a great reward at the end of our race.  Oh, and the calling to be gentle, as tough guys.  It's a quality of a true, Godly man-to be gentle in our responses to the world and its people.

This all fits in with Galations 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."  Let that other stuff go and embrace God.  Don't worry about yourself anymore.  He's the One living in you now.
