AFC Meeting 1/25/03
Prayer of Jabez, Part III.
Oh, That Your Hand Would Be With Me!
A life is turned completely upside down when one finally throws his hands up and says, "God, I give up!  I can't do this anymore alone.".   At that point, the new creation is stirred.  God no longer is hindered by an individual looking to minister by himself, please himself, or attempt to "figure out " things by himself.  What we find is that total dependence on God to accomplish anything is the beginning of a powerful life.  Ordinary people become heroes.  Ministries grow exponentially.  Peace is contagious.  God gets praised!
When we throw our hands up in despair, God figuratively reaches across the gap to touch us.  We are now a tool in the Master's hand, able to finally be used.  We start looking for God because we have now tasted a morsel of His freedom and glory and can't get enough.   Nothing else will satisfy this hunger.  We suddenly find ourselves participating in extraordinary things.  Things that set us up to be looked upon as  fools if God doesn't personally intercede and accomplish His tasks.  But we know we can trust Him, because we know the miracle that He just got through doing in us - freeing us from our self-reliance and calling us to Himself.  We finally realize we are His, cleansed of all our sin, and free to live a real life as one excitedly surrendering to God's perfect love.
